The Folsom Parks & Recreation Department is recruiting for one (1) Park Aide Specialist to join the Community & Cultural Services Division.
Under direct or general supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, this part-time, temporary position is responsible for maintenance of the bike park located at the Cummings Family Skate & Bike Park.
Schedule Duration:
position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget.
Flexible and scheduled as needed; generally 3-4 hours per day, less than 20 hours per week.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, based upon weather conditions and park maintenance needs.
Pay & Benefits Non-exempt, hourly, part-time.
Starting pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

Examples of Essential Duties NOTE:
The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification.

Working with a team of Parks and Recreation staff.
Park aide will have access to basic maintenance equipment.
Operate hand tools such as shovels, pick axe, hoses, rakes, wheel barrel, etc.
Limited access to land-moving machinery and qualified staff to operate.
May assist with guidance/coordination of large earth moving equipment.
Assist with cleaning of Skate Park and Concessions building located at the park.
Answering questions from the public pertaining to park hours, park maintenance, and facility schedule.
Cummings Family Park includes:
Skate Park, Bike Park, Dog Park, and general park amenities.
Employment Standards Knowledge of:
Practices and methods of basic landscaping principles.
Basic knowledge of irrigation and water collection and diversion techniques.
Moving of dirt and shaping of course tracks.
Safety principles and practices, including basic first aid and adult and/or child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) methods.
English usage, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.
Techniques for effectively dealing with individuals of various ages, various socioeconomic and ethnic groups, and effectively representing the City in contacts with the public.
Ability to:
Willingly work independently, off peak hours, weekends, and outdoors in ALL weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.
).
Willingly wear City approved/provided uniform.
Demonstrate enthusiastic, positive energy.
Communicate well orally and in writing Be organized, self-motivated, prioritize and pace duties and tasks.
Follow oral and written directions.

Minimum
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma, G.
E.
D.
, or equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
Some college preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience working within landscaping and/or bike park settings
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire date.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:
Some positions may require possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment.
Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Current CPR/First Aid certification Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching.
Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
Perform repetitive hand, arm, and body movement on a continuous basis.
Occasional public and coworker contact, frequently working alone.
Other Requirements:
Candidates may be asked to work nights, weekends, holidays, based upon weather conditions and park maintenance needs.
The successful candidate is made a conditional offer subject to a background check, which requires DOJ fingerprint clearance and a pre-employment physical, including screening for drug and alcohol use.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
