The Parks & Recreation Department is currently recruiting for two (2) to four (4) Recreation Specialists - Administrative Support (Temporary, Part-Time) to assist the various divisions with a variety of administrative and customer service duties.
- Under the direction of the Administrative Assistant and other supervisors, the Part-Time Recreation Specialist - Administrative Support will perform basic computer operations:
proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel; receptionist and telephone techniques; customer service principles and practices; record-keeping principles and procedures; modern office procedures, methods, and equipment; arithmetic calculations; prioritization of duties; maintenance of effective, cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public; accuracy in carrying out written and oral instructions; effective verbal and written communications; general knowledge of department programs.
Location:
This position will be scheduled to work at the Andy Morin Sports Complex or City Hall.
Schedule Schedule can be flexible, about 20 hours per week.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends (as needed).
Duration:
position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget.
Budget is currently available through July 2024.
Pay & Benefits Non-exempt, starting rate:
$18.
00 per hour Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.
Note:
Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with part-time positions.

Assist the public in person or by phone, answering inquiries related to department services, programs, or operations.
Establish and maintain customer accounts.
Accurately process facility reservations, point-of-sale transactions, and activity registrations, using recreation software (RecTrac).
Balance individual cash drawer.
Various other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Minimum
Qualifications Education:

Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire date.

Previous experience in customer service, cash handling, and typical office environment preferred.
License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:
Some positions may require possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
